Anthony Williams, Program Chair

Anthony D. Williams is a leading authority on collaborative innovation and co-author of the international bestseller Wikinomics. He is currently a Visiting Fellow with the Munk School of Global Affairs at University of Toronto, and a Senior Fellow for Innovation with the Lisbon Council in Brussels. Mr. Williams is also a member of several committees, including the National Research Council’s Committee on Science for the EPA’s Future, an Advisor to GovLoop, which is the world’s largest social network for government innovators, and a Founding Fellow of the OpenForum Academy, which is a global research initiative focused on understanding the impact of open standards and open source on business and society. His work on digital citizenship and related issues has been featured in such publications as the Huffington Post, BusinessWeek, the Harvard Business Review, and the Globe and Mail.

Francois Morin, CEO & Sponsorships Chair

Franois_Morin-LrzFrançois Morin has close to twenty-five years of experience in the field of Communications and Marketing in the technology sector. The various executive positions that he has held throughout his career have allowed him to showcase his creativity and strategic sense. Most notably, he has worked for the LGS Group, IBM Canada, and the public relations firm NATIONAL. Between 2007 and 2011, Mr. Morin was Senior Director of Communications and Marketing for Bell Canada Business Markets. He took over the leadership of WCIT 2012 in September 2011.

Mr. Morin is also actively involved on the boards of directors of CIRANO, the Information Technology Association of Canada, the Canadian Club of Montreal, the Montreal Millennium Summit, the Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec, the Fondation du CHUM, and the Douglas Mental Health Institute Foundation.

Karna Gupta, President and CEO of ITAC

Karna Gupta is a highly respected and well-seasoned executive with more than 30 years of experience in the high-technology sector who boasts an exceptional track record. He has led a variety of companies, from multinationals to start-ups, and is widely recognized for his ability to grow companies with in a global market. Mr. Gupta was appointed President and CEO of ITAC (Information Technology Association of Canada) in August 2011.

He previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Certicom (TSX: CIC), President of Comverse Billing (NASDAQ: CMVT) and Sitraka Mobility; Chief Marketing Officer for Comverse Americas, and Vice-President of Product Development for Bell Canada. He currently serves on the boards of directors for a number of organizations.

Mr. Gupta holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Concordia University, and has attended Executive Development programs at Duke University, Harvard, MIT, Technion Institute of Israel, and the University of Western Ontario. He has also been published in several industry publications.

Claude Lemay, Special Advisor, International Markets

Claude Lemay began his career in 1972 as an attorney in the area of international trade. In 1986, he joined Alis Technologies, which marked his entry into the information technology sector. Since then, he has completed more than $150 M in equity financing for a number of companies. From 2007 to October 2011, Mr. Lemay served as Vice-President of the Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC), and he currently serves as Vice-President of Technology Markets for Riocap and Chairman of the Board of SAJE, accompagnateur d’entrepreneurs. In his role as Special Advisor, International Markets for WCIT 2012, he is responsible for securing international sponsorships and attracting foreign national delegations to the Congress. Mr. Lemay is fluent in French, English, German and Japanese, and is well versed in Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.
